Hey, I am Carolin,
nice to meet you!
I’m a 26-year-old Marketing Manager and travel enthusiast from Germany, and the face behind happywhenabroad. While working full-time, I’m taking every free minute to follow my greatest passion: traveling to unknown places, taking photos far from home, and diving into new cultures.
When I’m not traveling, working, or blogging, chances are high you will find me catching up with friends and family, sipping coffee, reading books, or spending time in nature.
How I’ve Become a Travel Junkie
I’ve always had the urge to see as much of our world as possible. Not to escape my life here in Germany, but to broaden my horizons and to always come back with tons of new memories. After graduating from high school, I took the chance to travel to South Africa – my first big adventure. In the next years, I’ve backpacked through Southeast Asia, studied in Eastern Canada, and worked in Paris. I quickly realized that traveling and exploring new places abroad is exactly what I need to be happy – and this feeling has been with me ever since. I’ve already explored more than 30 countries and have many more on my list!

Why I’ve Started a Travel Blog
I’ve developed this blog for two reasons: First, to create a place where I can store all my memories, indulge in reminiscences, and stop them from sinking into oblivion. And second, to share all of my experiences and travel tips with others, especially like-minded, young people like me, and encourage them to follow their dreams and to explore more of our beautiful planet.
By sharing travel tips & destination guides to multiple places around the globe, I hope to inspire others to discover more of our world. I truly believe traveling and exploring other countries and cultures is the best form of learning. So, if I’ll be able to inspire just one person to take that trip they always dreamed of, then I’m completely satisfied.
What is happywhenabroad about? It’s a platform for everyone looking to learn more about a certain destination, get the best itineraries, or simply wants to be inspired for their next destination. It’s for all adventures people in search for their next campervan destination, city trip or need to get a little push for their first solo adventure.
